Programs
ASPIRA operates four education enrichment programs:
•Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) provides students the opportunity to develop practical skills such as communication, listening, understanding and administration. Through the after-school Club venue the YLDP serves more then 150 youth yearly in 6 high schools and 75 youth in 3 middle schools in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Britain and Waterbury.
•Parents for Educational Excellence (APEX) – APEX prepares parents to improve education in their communities and to help them mobilize other parents to join in their efforts. This type of parent involvement is crucial to a student’s academic success.
•Math and Science Academy (MAS) - MAS is a middle school initiative designed to enrich the regular coursework of students in math and science by building the students interest and aspirations to pursue a science, technology, engineering or math career, and increase their awareness through highly motivating, hands-on mathematics and science experiences designed by math & science educators and led by teachers.
•Public Policy Leadership Program works with high school youth to help them learn about the process of public policy formulation and develop leadership skills that will facilitate their entry into the public policy arena at the local, regional, and national levels.
